Year: 2012 Site: Vinh Phuc, Vietnam Client: Piaggio Building area: sqm 5,000 Service required: preliminary project
The project, with its 5,000 square meters of extension, defines a garden that wants to be a meeting place between Italian and Vietnamese culture, through an interpretation of the water landscapes of Hanoi and the Italian garden. The park is divided into a series of small pavilions located in an area that alternates green areas with water. Precise functions, organized in thematic places, give order to the whole, but are tempered by a versatility of use that allows at the same time that free and communal use of space, so dear to the Vietnamese. The presence of Piaggio is evoked by the theme of the hexagon, which recalls the company brand, characterizing the plan of the pavilion and some items of furniture designed ad hoc. The park contains a small museum pavilion and another double pavilion, intended for projection and multimedia use. To the south, there is a soccer field and a small outdoor pool; the changing rooms and services are obtained in two separate but adjacent blocks, in order to allow a simultaneous use of the two structures; a third pavilion is dedicated to refreshment. The green of the park interpenetrates and integrates, in a complementary way, the functions of small buildings. At the center there are two educational-ludic paths: the garden of colors and the garden of perfumes, with flowers and essences typical of the country's climate. Next to the two thematic gardens lies the stylized labyrinth, built with pruned hedges, which is reflected and interpenetrated in that made up of water elements. At the same time, the whole is a place of play, of opportunities for knowledge and interpenetration of two worlds almost at the antipodes. The play area and especially the swimming pool are educational spaces, since the Vietnamese children, although living in a place subject to violent floods, mostly do not know how to swim and are therefore sometimes victims of water. Next to the labyrinth is a real playground for children.
