The shopping centre inaugurated in 1996 was widened from its 38,000 to 55,000 sqm. Works have been programmed so that customers were free to use normally the structure with no interruption due to the works. The plan of the extension with the big mall on the façade and an arcade on two floors renews the existing centre, which was restored in the meanwhile. Sunlight is again the main feature of this architecture, as well as the integration of rooms and paths. An underground parking place brings users directly to the indoor arcades. Near to the town, this work was occasion of reclamation of a dismantled and decayed industrial area. The complex, on a wide parking place planted with threes and with a railway line on its back became the first piece of a kind of wide shopping place closed on the other side by a range of other industrial buildings under reclamation. Keeping the old chimney, the curved shape of the façade, the wide glass walls and the windows on the roof help the soft integration of the building into the upgraded context. The used materials are marble, wood, glass, bricks, which recall its previous industrial function. Photovoltaic boards on the roof deliver energy. Roads have been reorganized on a wide area, taking advantage of the private intervention as well for the realization of a tunnel under the railway, which opened a new connection toward Rovigo and Ferrara. The complex is made of distinct shopping units on the first floor and of office activities and light handicraft activities on the higher floors. Each unit owns its own parking places and toilets. The choice of the materials (stoneware, glass and uninterrupted façade), as well as the long glass cantilever roof and the high central roof make the path nice for visitors. All underground parking places are connected with their respective areas through sheltered paths.

The complex lays on a suburban area on a very important traffic way near valuable industrial areas. The building has the shape of a big wall behind which there are the shopping areas. Featured by a particular attention to the area devoted to visitors, with a prevalent use of sunlight, couples contemporary materials with the traditional ones of the territory. Some specific measures regarding the environmental aspects have been adopted during the planning phase. They range from a survey of the traffic aimed to improve the practicability of roads around the estate, through the keeping of the permeability of the soil by means of an outdoor paving with grate-blocks, up to the shading of the outdoor place with autochthonous species of threes.

The shopping centre lies on the suburban belt between the main roads connecting Gorizia, Venezia and Trieste, on an area 20 minutes away from an international catchment area with about 250,000 persons. The structure of the centre consists of a hypermarket with about 6,000 sqm disposed on a double gallery of 50 shops of medium and small size. Particular attention was devoted to environmental aspects, by means of a survey of traffic, keeping the permeability of the soil and trees planting on unroofed spaces. The planimetric arrangement was conceived in order to make easy the orientation for customers, aiming to reduce to the minimum the signals usually needed in a quite wide structure like that. Galleries and malls are planned like town throughout the centre lightened from the top with sunlight, filtered and screened in order to make it comfortable in all seasons and to allow in the daylight hours to have an almost natural light. Lightening and sunlight were measured depending on the climate features of the area, distinguished by hot summers and cold and windy winters. Particular devices were used in order to reduce energy consumption during hot months, reflecting outside the structure a part of the sunrays coming from the top through the glasses of the galleries. Suited shelters on the pedestrian entries protect customers in the days with "bora". The building materials chosen range from steel, through crystal, aluminum, concrete, vitrified stoneware up to the natural ones familiar for the territory: wood and repen and Carnic grey marble, coming from the near plateau. Year: 2001 Site: Vicenza Client: Private Building area: widening sqm 25,000 - overall complex sqm 58,000 Service required: architectural planning and interior design, supervision of works
The centre, realized by the firm in 1994 was widened on double galleries with shops of medium surfaces for an overall area of the complex of 58,000 sqm. The plan of widening considered some essential problems: during the planning, the need of innovation of the complex should not create imbalance with the existing building, during the building site, the need to keep the centre open without interruptions. A big mall with double height marks the core of the widening with a big glass-wall facing toward a waterway and a green outdoor area. The plan aims to make comfortable the way indoor in the hot and cold months, typical of Italian northern-eastern climate, keeping as long as possible the natural effect lent by the light coming from the top and from the wide glass-wall. The shopping centre, having a stream of more than 5,000,000 visitors a year, is one of the first ones realized in Italy after the "French pattern" with hypermarket, mall and shopping centre. The use of the sunlight coming from the skylights of the main mall and of the arcade lends the rooms the atmosphere of the streets of the town. The use of natural materials ranging from the wood of the ceiling to the marble from Verona, together with steel and glass aims to offer the users a familiar though contemporary environment. The variety of shapes, spaces and structures helps the visitors to orientate "naturally". The parking places are hosted in a wide underground place under the shopping centre, with the twofold benefit to allow comfortable paths for visitors and to have a low impact on the territory.
Year: 1996 Site: Vicenza Client: Private Building area: sqm 6,000 Service required: architectural planning and interior design, supervision of works
Realized in the productive area of western Vicenza, it looks like a complex with simple structures and accurate finish for the comfort of users and workers. The placing scheme accounts for the BMW standards, depending on the constraints of the almost small site and of the pre-existing building, which imposed an extent of three levels. The indoor and outdoor organization allows a comfortable use for customers served on reception areas on the first floor, which communicates in back office with the workshop, car repairer's and warehouse of spare parts. The ownership inspired the building to plainness, control of expenses and energy consumptions with exposed industrial structures and plants. The complex was widened after the plan of the firm in 2006 for an overall building area of 7,500 sqm. Photographer's credits: Matteo Piazza

The plan, one of the first ones in Italy after the "French pattern" consists of a hypermarket of sqm 8,000 with two wide malls, shopping centre on the first and second floor, with parking places on two levels. The main mall, with its wide glass-wall on double height, is featured by a lamellate structure made of beams with double camber of more than 40 meters lengths, hung on a steel spaceframe with wide arches. The indoor dynamicity of the place is featured by the insertion of the two moving walkways in the middle, connecting the two floors of the centre. Wide use of sun light, traditional materials together with structures of steel and glass feature the rooms of the arcades. In 2001 the shopping centre was widened by the firm to an overall area of sqm 58,000. Photographer's credits: Matteo Piazza

The building is composed of a first floor for exhibition, workshop, car repairer's and workings, with premises on double height on the steel gallery. On the two upper floors there is the car depot connected with a high outdoor ramp of concrete. The great plainness of materials - corrugated sheet-iron and iron parts for parapets and cantilever roofs - lends the building the look of the machine shop, with the attention to the technologic detail. Interiors are featured by a wooden ceiling which refines the rooms for customers and by an overhanging steel staircase leading to the premises on the mezzanine floor.
