Intervention performed in synergy between public and private bodies for the reclamation of the drying building of the previous sugar refinery Eridania. The building has three floors: the first floor for private trade use and the two floors upstairs for premises and an educational centre for small and medium industry. The restoration centered mainly on the renewal of the structures, of the steel trussed roof coated with aluminum sheets. The indoor area was conceived as pliable, to be split into different working units, though offering the perception of the wide overall volume by means of the distribution on galleries and rooms with double height.
At the gates of Legnago, the reclamation master plan of the former sugar mill restores a dismantled and degraded industrial area and connects it to down town complying with a process begun by the public administration a couple of years ago aiming to realize a sustainable town, searching development in the supply of services, in cultural growth, in environmental qualities. The reclamation master plan is made of two areas, a business area in the West and one of services in the East, split by a diagonal urban axis. Hub of the plan is the "town square", placed between the two sides and from which radiates the composition of the whole. Significant for memory sake the renovation of the former sugar mills, now devoted to services for business enterprises. The reclamation master plan provides for the settling of trade activities in 54% of the volumes, executive and accommodation activities in 11%, dwelling in 32% and services to the community in 3%. The strip parallel to the railway hosts a park of about 15,000 sqm. connected by means of a green path to public spaces and to the existing municipal park, beyond the waterway Bussè. The reclamation master plan accounts for a wide reorganization of the road network with a reduction and quickening of the critical traffic situation, both by means of the realization of an underpass under the railway toward the Transpolesana road, and with two roundabouts on Via Mantova, already of the right dimensions for possible future interventions. New cycle-pedestrian paths for a new connection with the downtown lay on a separate and sheltered area.

Near to the town, this work was occasion of reclamation of a dismantled and decayed industrial area. The complex, on a wide parking place planted with threes and with a railway line on its back became the first piece of a kind of wide shopping place closed on the other side by a range of other industrial buildings under reclamation. Keeping the old chimney, the curved shape of the façade, the wide glass walls and the windows on the roof help the soft integration of the building into the upgraded context. The used materials are marble, wood, glass, bricks, which recall its previous industrial function. Photovoltaic boards on the roof deliver energy. Roads have been reorganized on a wide area, taking advantage of the private intervention as well for the realization of a tunnel under the railway, which opened a new connection toward Rovigo and Ferrara.
