VILLA THIENE
BUILDING DETAILS
Year: 1998
Site: Quinto Vicentino (VI)
Client: Municipality of Quinto Vicentino
Service required: survey, partial restoration plan and supervision of works

This Palladian Villa is the building of major value on the whole municipal territory. The partial restoration plan starts from a preliminary analysis of objective knowledge, enabling to read traces left on walls by history, before making irreversible violations.
The scientific approach was measured on the contingent situation of scarce financial support, time dilution of the interventions and of splitting up of professional mandate.
An analysis of the outdoor spaces of the villa was made first, through file survey, then a critical-stratigraphic survey of facades, indoor walls, floorings, and a research of the building systems. The restoration plan of part of the Palladian first floor and of the portion attributed to Francesco Muttoni arose from the revision and intersection of the news found. The use required by the administration, to host premises and library inside the villa required on one side the observance of the performance prescriptions by law and on the other side the singling out of technologies compatible with the preservation of the features of the historic building.
