Dalia - Art installation at XIII Florence Biennale

  • Year: 2021
  • Location: Firenze
  • Client: Cultural association
  • Service required: project

The XIII Florence Biennale 2021 was focused on the polychrome and multifaceted universe of femininity investigated in its many facets.

The research proposed by the Biennale seeks to capture the essence of the female gender. The archetypal meaning of "feminine", detached from the carnal meaning of gender, becomes the matrix of the artistic gesture, and in this sense, or rather, in the most exquisitely literary sense, matrix as uterus, as mother.

The idea starts from here, from the sense of protection, welcome, shelter, unconditional love that the words mother, womb, precisely matrix, produce in the minds of those who listen to them.

Inside the "refuge" the design represents a stylization and a reinterpretation of the Venus of Willendorf, an ancestral reference to the female figure in her fertility connotations, which, unlike today's female stylistic features, depicts a welcoming roundness.
"The Dalia expresses feelings of dignity and elegance", the dignity of a shelter in which to find oneself. The elegance that must be found in everything: in a gesture, in a word said, in a shelter offered.

The photovoltaic panel translates light into energy, making Dalia conceptually alive. The energy is made available to illuminate, provide light warmth or ventilate the interior. The natural passage of air is possible through specific narrow openings.

Color as therapy to heal the soul and to make the suburbs flourish. Color helps and filters the perception of the surrounding space providing new colors to deal with daily disputes.
