The exhibition design for the 13th edition of the Dedalo Minosse Prize, hosted in the Upper Hall of the Basilica Palladiana in Vicenza. The exhibition project stems from a commitment to environmental, cultural and social sustainability, with the aim of minimising waste, the impact of transport and the use of materials through careful and innovative design choices.
The exhibition is structured as a transparent urban journey, created using natural wood modules without large panelling, allowing visitors to fully appreciate the vast space of the Basilica Palladiana and enhancing its monumentality, making the most of the natural light from the windows specially opened for the occasion.
A main diagonal path and side paths guide visitors through an immersive experience, featuring suspended windows that frame the models, photographs, drawings, texts and videos of the 70 selected projects, offering multiple perspectives and a narrative that celebrates design quality and responsible commissioning.
A central and symbolic feature of the exhibition is the small temporary grove comprising 20 trees - camphor, ginkgo biloba and maple - each five metres tall, which interact with the exhibition space and enhance its poetic atmosphere. These trees represent the profound relationship between architecture, nature and sustainability, bearing witness to the focus on landscape and the environment that underpins the Award's philosophy. At the end of the exhibition, the plants were donated to the city of Vicenza, leaving a tangible and permanent mark.
The exhibition thus presents itself as a living organism, capable of combining construction and nature, history and innovation, inviting the public to reflect on the social and cultural role of architecture. Within this framework, the narrative of quality commissioning merges with environmental awareness and design research, offering an exhibition experience capable of stimulating curiosity, wonder and dialogue.
