The project area "Piazza Carli" is located on the south-east side of Montecchio Maggiore historical urban centre, in a central position between the latter and the district of Alte Ceccato. It is an area that was conceived as a model district, where strategic functions should have been located, and was therefore built with truly important dimensions.
Nowadays Piazza Carli looks like a large parking area, delimited to the north by residential buildings with five floors above ground, with shops and a portico on the ground floor, that has slopes difficult to access.
The proposal of urban regeneration of the spaces located around the Square provides for the partial redesign of the road infrastractures system and of the open spaces, improving the connections within the district and integrating those with the City, encouraging, with the redevelopment, the insertion of new uses, mainly tertiary or cultural.
