Church of Santa Margherita in Rotzo

The restoration of the Church of Santa Margherita in Rotzo, traditionally considered the oldest church in the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni, was preceded by a long phase of study of the archive sources, the style characters and the built object.
During the restoration of the ancient building, part of the renovation made after the disastrous natural event that had almost destroyed the church works in the 1970's, were removed.
The roof was replaced with a new structure, modeled after the tradition of the area and provided with adequate insulation; the walls were linked by making a top connection and the exposed cement mortars were patiently removed.
The restyling of the external area includes, in addition to the recovery of the ancient dry stone walls that delimit the boundaries, the overall definition of the entire area pertaining to the building and the beginning of the adjacent Alpine path that winds its way.
